The Cavern The cavern is an enormous underground cave, too deep underground for insects or bats. The cave is surrounded by a network of tunnels and smaller caves. There are several subterranean lakes fed from ground-water as well as several rivers and streams which run from the surface. The only available light is from small luminous flying fungi, and larger luminous fungi.
	Myconids These are ‘mushroom people’. They take on the various shapes of different kinds of fungi and populate the underground cavern.
	Ozark Cave fish This is a species of fish which, through the process of evolution, lost it’s eyes. It lives in the underground lakes around the myconian city, feeding on planktonic life-forms and organic matter which washes down from the surface.
	The Things on the Surface that want to Eat Myconids These creatures have not been seen in living memory, as the myconids have been living underground for centuries. They eat myconids, and they are vicious and would gladly wipe out all myconids, if they could find them. These creatures are affected by the state of the stars and the moon – they are strongest when the moon is gibbous (between half and full) and every few thousand years the stars reach an alignment which causes the creatures serious harm, and they have to hide and go dormant until the stars leave that alignment.
